Miss Alabama 2010 Ashley Davis, a UAB senior from Dothan, sizzled at the Miss America 2011 pageant in Las Vegas last night. On the second night of competition, Davis was chosen as the preliminary lifestyle and fitness winner when she wore a black, two-piece swimsuit, which showed off her trim, athletic physique. The honor also earned her $1,000 in scholarship money.Davis, 22, is a double major in political science/public relations. When she graduates, she plans to enter a dual program that will allow her to pursue a master's in public administration from UAB and a law degree from Samford University's Cumberland School of Law.
Other Miss America winners so far have been Miss Rhode Island Deborah Saint-Vil, who was named Wednesday night's preliminary talent winner. Tuesday night's preliminary winners were Miss North Carolina Adrienne Core, talent, and Miss Hawaii Jalee Fuselier, lifestyle and fitness.
The 2011 Miss America pageant is happening at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The competition winner will be named Saturday night Jan. 15 when the pageant airs at 8 p.m. Central time on ABC.
